I wish I could play around with all the cases, but after looking at pictures and reading reviews I decided to go with this one. So far, its a good choice and you can’t go wrong getting this for your Acer Iconia A500… but now I am already seeing some better offers from other brands (rooCase).

The case came in a plastic cover that zips open at the top. Kinda cool cover that would seem useful storing other things, but that’s off topic. The case gave a nice but not too strong aroma of high quality leather. Mmmm! Feels nice too, and the micro-fiber insides feel soft to be gentle to your Iconia but strong so that it won’t wear down easily.
Adding the Iconia tablet to the case was sorta simple – there are 6 sturdy flaps that “hook” on to your tablet. If you look at your tablet in landscape view, there are 4 hooks that hold each corner and 2 hooks that hold the left and right sides. This leaves A LOT of the tablet’s edges exposed, but that means everything is accessible… even the micro-SD card port! The bottom 2 flaps don’t hook on as well, but that is to make it easier to tilt your tablet in the 4 different viewing angles. All together, the tablet feels secure and the case will not come off without some intentional effort to pry the case off. There is one more flap that hooks the case cover over the tablet’s screen to completely conceal it. This hook feels strong at the moment… maybe a little too strong as it feels like it is scratching the top of the tablet every time you open or close the cover. Rest assured it isn’t due to the micro-fibers. The case will remain closed unless you really want to open it (and you have to REALLY want to open it), but I think a magnet here would have been nice. I’m used to it now so it is no problem.
With the case completely closed, the tablet actually looks thinner! The weight feels about the same too. The speakers are not covered at all, and the camera with flash are exposed just fine. With the case completely open, I can hold the tablet in either landscape or portrait views with no problem, and the camera/speakers are still good. The speakers still sound good even with the case cover folded over to the back of the tablet. I really like the stand that provides the multiple viewing angles – with the large stable base platform for the tilted tablet to rest on, it is perfect for setting it on my lap while sitting or even laying down. Definitely seems better than other cases that offer only two relatively unstable viewing angles. Everything about the case just feels nice, and it makes the tablet look a little prettier too (personally I think the Iconia is a bit on the ugly side).

From looking at pictures and comparing it with the case in my hands, I’d say the BLUREX Leather Slim folio case and the rooCASE Slim-fit (Black) Folio case look IDENTICAL to this one. Honestly, go for whichever one has the better deal (looks like rooCase does at the moment) because they all seem to offer a great quality case and protection for your tablet just like this Acase.

Much better than the OEM Acer case,
I got this case after being disappointed by the OEM Acer A500 case. See my review about that if you are considering it. I’ve had this case for about a week, and so far I love it.
It fits perfectly, nice and snug. My initial impression of the quality is that it is very good. Only time will tell if it will hold up, and I will update my review if it fails prematurely.
There is access to all of the ports with the case on, although the MicroSDHC slot is a little tricky to get to. I rarely access the MicroSD card so this isn’t an issue for me. The OEM Acer case had no way of accessing this slot.
The case is kept closed with a little tab that uses friction and some spring metal pressure (covered in leather) against the tablet. I have had no issues with it yet, but I could see that it may possibly not stay closed after the case stretches a little, or it may wear a little spot on the actual tablet. I want to emphasize that I have not had these issues yet.
The three stand positions are perfect. It stays fine as you touch and use the screen.
This does add slightly more thickness to the tablet than the Acer OEM case, but not much more. It still seems like a sleek, slim unit with the case installed. The only other tablet/case combination I have handled is my friend’s A500, which had a much thicker case and seemed much more bulky.
